Moe’s Priorities

  • Our utmost responsibility is to keep our kids safe by investing in the infrastructure of every campus that SCOE oversee within each respective district and by also providing more resources and support staff.

    #SafetyAboveAll

  • The County Office of Education can help embrace and support local PTAs countywide and provide the resources and support. Furthermore, encouraging more parent participation in the education process and what SCOE offer for our kids’ education beyond each school district. Furthermore, I will be an advocate for all parents across the county to choose the best venue to educate their kids.

    #ParentsVoice

  • School boards and SCOE should not be a battle ground for political agenda. As a father of five, I will advocate for every child as if they are my own without party lines; this is a nonpartisan office.

    #OurKidsOurFuture

  • Expanding programs for special education and support staff to help in classroom behavioral challenges that is underfunded. More funding needs to be allocated and programs need to be optimized and I will champion bringing more funding and resources.

  • By working to ensure students have access to emotional and social supports, enrichment programs, and school environment and curriculum that are more culturally relevant.

  • Working to bring civics back into the classroom to ensure youth understand how to vote, volunteer, lead and advocate to improve their communities.

  • Review the decline in enrollment and low-test scores in certain parts of the county; especially in areas where we see low performance. This is something I will diligently review collaboratively with a task force to review root causes and address accordingly countywide in each respective district.

  • Sacramento County and its school districts, like other education agencies statewide, face enormous pressures in securing highly qualified staff in many areas of operation. I will work with the administration to recruit and retain skilled professionals collaboratively with the board, state, and federal agencies to ensure our region retains the best classroom and campus professionals.

  • I support open enrollment because it allows families to select the school site that is best fit to educate their children. However, open enrollment can cause brain drain from specific areas in the wider district. To combat this, more needs to be done to invest in underserved schools so every campus is a destination school for everyone. With private schools, the growth of charters and home schools, families have an ability to move schools and I will be an advocate for all parents across the county to choose the best venue to educate their kids.

  • The state and the county should put more resources in building a better educational system that fit the need for every family- our investment in education should supersedes investment in prisons.
